BMW ready to enter electric car segment before Tesla will launch 3 luxurious EVs in next 6 months


German luxury vehicle maker BMW is all set to launch three electric cars in India in the next 6 months. Recently, the company confirmed this and said that the company will first launch its first e-car next month.

 German luxury carmaker BMW on Thursday said it will launch three electric vehicles in India in the next six months to give a boost to its electric mobility in the country. Which the company will start from next month. First, the company will launch its flagship all-electric SUV iX, which will be followed by the all-electric mini luxury hatchback in 3 months. This will be followed by the launch of the all-electric sedan BMW i4 in six months.

BMW, which is in the midst of its biggest ever production run, said it will launch 25 products in India this year. BMW Group India President and CEO Vikram Pawah told PTI, "We have already done that and it is giving us a lot of results as our growth in the first ten months is very good and we are looking to aggressively move the production to the next level. So that we can move rapidly towards pure electric mobility.”

He further added, "BMW will launch three fully electric products in India in the next 180 days." Further, Pawah said, "In 30 days we will launch BMW IX, which is a fully electric SUV. In 90 days, we will launch MINI Electric and in 180 days we will launch our first sedan electric, which is That's the i4."

Talking about IX, he said that it will become the technology major of the company, adding that even from a sustainability perspective, IX will see large-scale use of natural materials or recycled materials and will be 100% "green mobility". Production will be done simultaneously. The IX will have two electric motors for the front and rear axles and will be able to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds.

On bringing electric cars to India, Pawah said, “We always promise that whatever global products are available, we will bring them to India, especially in the electric space. I feel that our customers are especially looking for premium There is a need for new and best products in the segment." He further added that I am confident that based on the great response from global customers, it will be able to do a great job in India as well. To make it comfortable for its customers, BMW India will be providing a home charging kit with every car. It will be an 11 kW AC charger that will be able to charge the car to 100 percent in around 7 hours. The car can be charged with this charger for a range of up to 100 km in 2.5 hours. In addition, the company will install fast chargers at all touchpoints across its dealer network in 35 cities in India. Pavan further added that all our dealerships will be equipped with 50 kW DC fast chargers, which will be made ready for use by the customers."
