Auto rides can get cheaper on Uber, the company has made this plan.

Uber, the company that provides app-based taxi service, is now going to make some big changes in autorickshaw rides on its platform. This can make auto rides cheaper for customers, while autorickshaw drivers can also benefit in terms of earnings.

Uber has planned that it will not take any commission from the autorickshaw drivers who use its platform. Instead, it will now allow autorickshaw drivers to use its platform on a subscription basis. Autorickshaw drivers are expected to benefit from this in their earnings.

Payment will be made in cash only

Uber has also made it clear that if users book an autorickshaw ride on its platform, they will only get the option of cash payment. In cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru where Uber offers the option of booking autorickshaws on its platform, trends like autorickshaw drivers cancelling rides or demanding payment in cash have often been seen. This is probably the reason why Uber has taken these big decisions for autorickshaw rides.

Rapido is giving tough competition

The main reason behind Uber switching to a subscription model for autorickshaw rides can be considered to be the challenge it is facing from Rapido in the market. Rapido has recently expanded its service beyond bike taxis. Now it is offering autorickshaw rides on its platform, for which it is charging a subscription fee from drivers. A similar concept has also been adopted by Bengaluru's autorickshaw booking service 'Namma Yatri'. Due to this, autorickshaw drivers are preferring the bookings coming from these platforms.

Uber has said that the company is shifting to a subscription-based model for autorickshaw drivers. This is the industry trend and we are also moving in that direction. The company said in a separate blog that Uber is making a big change with its new auto model. This change is towards SAAS (Software-as-a-Service). Uber will connect you with nearby drivers, but this service will be different from Uber.

According to the company, now no commission will be taken from autorickshaw drivers and Uber will only provide them the platform. Uber will no longer charge any fee for cancelling the booking. Uber will now only suggest the fare but the final amount will be decided by the driver and the passenger themselves.
