Travel Tips: Do you also want to transfer your confirmed train ticket to someone else, click here to know how you can do this!

Many times if the passenger is not able to travel due to any reason then the confirmed train ticket gets ruined. However, Indian Railways has issued new guidelines on how one can transfer a confirmed train ticket to someone else's name by using a few simple steps. This can be convenient for all those who cannot travel using a ticket due to some unforeseen reason.

However, the train ticket can be transferred only to any member of the family i.e. father, mother, brother, wife, sister, son, daughter, or husband. Also, the transfer facility can be availed only once, which means that once the ticket is transferred to another passenger, it cannot be transferred further.

Here are some simple steps using which you can transfer a confirmed train ticket:

Take a printout of the ticket.

Visit the reservation counter of your nearest railway station.

Carry the Aadhar card or Voter ID card of the person to whom you want to transfer the ticket.

Apply for ticket transfer.

Few things to keep in mind before applying for a ticket transfer

The request to transfer a confirmed train ticket must be made at least 24 hours prior to the departure time, however, this may vary depending on the passenger requesting it. If there is a festival, a wedding occasion, or a personal matter, the passenger has to raise the ticket 48 hours before departure. NCC candidates can also avail ticket transfer service.
