Now cheap food will be available while traveling by train, IRCTC took this big step!

The Union Ministry of Railways has issued an important notice regarding the ordering of food inside trains run by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, or Vande Bharat trains.

Now ordering your morning tea on these trains will not cost Rs 70 as it used to. The Center has decided to do away with service charges on food items ordered during train travel, even if you have not booked your meal in advance along with your ticket.

Earlier, many passengers were upset and shocked that IRCTC was charging upwards of Rs 70 for ordering tea or coffee during train travel. This means that Indian Railways was charging a service charge of Rs 50 for a tea which cost Rs 20.

As per the revised meal rates in IRCTC, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will cost Rs 50 more if ordered during the journey and will not be pre-booked with tickets, while morning tea will be charged for all passengers. will remain the same.

In a circular issued by IRCTC, Indian Railways has specified that food ordered on Vande Bharat Express, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, or Duronto will not attract any additional service charge. The food rates mentioned are inclusive of the GST rate, which means there will be no additional charges.

As per the previous IRCTC rule, if the person has not booked their meal with their train ticket, they will have to pay an additional Rs 50 while ordering food during the journey, even if it is only Rs 20 for tea or coffee.

Now, IRCTC has abolished these service charges for morning and evening tea. Apart from this, the Railway Board has said that if a pre-paid train is running late then the charges for all food items will be the same for both categories of passengers.
