Asus has announced a strategic partnership with Flipkart to launch new categories of products in India that are claimed to be "affordable" and "simple". The Taiwanese company said the first set of new products will be launched on Thursday, July 15.
While both Asus and Flipkart are yet to reveal details about the launch, it is being speculated that the upcoming product may include Asus Chromebooks. Earlier, Asus and Flipkart had partnered to launch new smartphones and Windows laptops in the country.
Asus said in a statement that the partnership with Flipkart is creating a range of new products to meet the needs of the Indian consumer designed with in-house engineering, R&D, and design resources to deepen its commitment to the Indian market.
A dedicated microsite has been created on Flipkart to announce the launch on July 15. An image featured in the microsite suggests that the new products will primarily address the needs of people working from home and studying and will include the use of the Google Play store.
Asus is also emphasizing bringing new products at affordable prices. Asus has several models in its Chromebook portfolio in global markets. However, the company has not yet brought any of these models to India.
The COVID-19 pandemic has helped Chromebooks become a popular series globally, as people have shifted to the remote working and learning model. According to a report by Canalys, worldwide Chromebook shipments exceeded 11 million units in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Ajay Veer Yadav, Senior Vice President, Flipkart, said the new range of Asus products aims to "simplify digital accessibility for millions of Indian consumers".
