India's men's hockey team won its first match against New Zealand 3–2 at the Tokyo Olympics.
Indian men's hockey team started with victory in Tokyo Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh and Sreejesh had a special contribution in winning the match while the Indian hockey team performed well in their first match. During this, a great match was seen by both the teams. Rupinder Pal Singh scored the first goal for India in the first quarter. On the other hand, Ken Russell scored a goal in the first quarter for New Zealand and brought the team on par.
After this, hockey was played by both teams in the second quarter. Both the rivals yearned to score goals against each other. But when the second quarter ended, both the teams were tied 1-1. That is, many teams could not score in the second quarter.
