World number one archer Deepika Kumari performed brilliantly on the eighth day of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday. She entered the quarter-finals in the individual event after defeating Ksenia Perova of the Russian Olympic Committee today.

With this, Deepika, who was playing her third Olympics, became the first Indian archer to reach the quarterfinals of an Olympic archery event.

Now she is just a few steps away from a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Indian archer Deepika Kumari defeated former world champion Senia Perova in a thrilling shoot-off.

The score was tied 5-5 between the two archers after five sets. After this, India's star archer Deepika scored a perfect 10 in the shoot-off and defeated the team silver medalist of the Rio Olympics. Deepika Kumari won this match by 6-5.
