Another medal for India has been confirmed in the Tokyo Olympics. Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has ensured India's second medal at the Tokyo Olympics after Mirabai Chanu.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain defeated Chinese Taipei boxer Nien Chin Chen to reach the semi-finals in the 69kg category. With this, he has ensured at least a bronze medal. Lovlina Borgohain defeated world champion Nien Chin Chen 3-2 in the first round.
With this win, Lovlina Borgohain will become the third Indian to win a medal in an Olympic boxing event. Earlier, Vijender Singh has won bronze medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and MC Mary Kom in the 2012 London Games.
Today, world number one archer Deepika Kumari also entered the quarter-finals by defeating Ksenia Perova of the Russian Olympic Committee in the individual event.
