The Indian men's hockey team defeated the 2016 Rio Olympic gold medalist Argentina to reach the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. India won this match 3-1 against Argentina. Thus India registered its third win in four matches at the Tokyo Olympics. Now the Indian team will face host Japan in their last match of Group A on 30 July.
Both the teams failed to score till the half time of the match. After this, Varun Kumar scored a penalty corner in the 43rd minute to give the Indian team the lead. In the 48th minute, Maco Schuth scored from a penalty corner to level Argentina.
After this, Vivek Sagar scored for India in the 58th minute and Harmanpreet Singh scored in the 59th minute to take the lead 3-1. Thus the result of the match was in favor of India. India has so far only suffered a defeat against Australia in the Tokyo Olympics.
