On this day 11 years ago, Sachin Tendulkar made another incredible record in his Awesome list of feats. On this day i.e. 24 February 2010, he made a world record by scoring a double century in ODI. Earlier, no cricketer could do such a feat in international ODI cricket.
Tendulkar was unbeaten by scoring 200 runs from just 147 balls against South Africa in Gwalior, as India registered an easy 153-run win in the game. The Indian batsman had hit 25 fours and three sixes.
Before this innings, the record for the highest score in men's ODI cricket was held by Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe, who were unbeaten in 194 against Bangladesh in 2009.
Since Tendulkar's double century, five batsmen have crossed the 200-run mark, another Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has achieved on three occasions.
Opening partner Virender Sehwag, New Zealand's Martin Guptill, West Indies' Chris Gayle, and Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman have crossed the 200-run mark so far.
