Former India opener Wasim Jaffer compared Prithvi Shaw to Virender Sehwag, saying that the young Mumbai batsman needs to be more disciplined off the field. Shaw was banned for eight months in a doping case after his impressive debut against the West Indies in the Test. He made a comeback to competitive cricket after the ban was completed and he got a chance to make it to the playing eleven on the New Zealand tour of India this year.
42-year-old Wasim Jaffer told former opener Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel, 'I think he (Shaw) needs to be more disciplined off the field. He has achieved international success, but he needs to be very disciplined outside of cricket as well.
Jaffer, who scored the most runs in the Ranji Trophy, said that Shaw has the ability to destroy the best bowling attack. The veteran, who said goodbye to domestic cricket this year, said, 'Without a doubt the kind of shots he (Shaw) takes, I think he is a special player. If he continues this then he has the ability of Virender Sehwag, who can completely demolish the bowling attack.
