Strengths and weaknesses of Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer's team craving for the first title

The Delhi team never won the IPL title until the Daredevils became the Capitals, but this time the arrival of experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin can give the team the benefit of experience. Captain Shreyas Iyer's team also has young Turk Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, and offensive batsman Shikhar Dhawan. The spin department also has Amit Mishra and Akshar Patel who can land big hits in the lower order. The team's first match is from Kings XI Punjab on 20 September.

Weakness: Shreyas and Pant may have to go down one order in the middle order with Rahane dropping to number three, which will allow a batsman like Pant to play fewer balls. There is a selection dilemma regarding spin. Ashwin, Mishra, Sandeep Lamichane, and Akshar Patel. When Pacer Mohit Sharma returned after injury, Ishant's economy rate is weak.

Strengths: The opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have a good strike rate. Rishabh Pant and Hetmyer can prove to be effective on slow UAE pitches. Marx Stoinis as an all-rounder, substitute for Chemo Paul. The arrival of Ashwin will help young captain Iyer to formulate a better strategy.

Team: Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Hetmyer, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Mohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Sandeep Lamichane, Tushar Deshpande, Akshar Patel, Chemo Paul, Lalit Yadav, Marx Stoinis, Alex Carrie, Daniel Semmes, Enrich Nortje.
