Delhi Capitals star batsman Shikhar Dhawan has become the first batsman to score two consecutive centuries in the IPL and has also achieved the feat of completing 5000 runs in the IPL.
Left-handed batsman Shikhar played an unbeaten 106 not out in the match against Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday and completed his 5000 runs during this period. He reached this feat in the 169th match. This is Shikhar's second consecutive century and he became the first batsman to score two consecutive centuries in the IPL. Shikhar had scored an unbeaten 101 against Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah.
Other batsmen who have scored 5000 runs in IPL are Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner (5037), Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma (5158), Chennai Super Kings' Suresh Raina (5368), and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli (5759). Shikhar has now scored 5,044 runs, Shikhar is second in terms of scoring the most runs in the current season of IPL. He has 465 runs in his ten matches, Punjab captain Lokesh Rahul (545) is number one.
