Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has broken Bhuvneshwar Kumar's record of most wickets in an IPL by an Indian bowler.
Bumrah took four wickets for just 14 runs against Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier of the IPL-13 on Thursday and made it to the final for the sixth time, winning Mumbai by 57 runs.
Bumrah also increased his wicket tally to 27 from 14 matches this season and broke Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Indian record of highest 26 wickets in a season. Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bhubaneswar took 26 wickets in 14 matches in the 2017 season. Bumrah is currently ranked fourth in terms of maximum wickets in an IPL. James Faulkner of Rajasthan Royals took 28 wickets in 16 matches in the 2013 season, Mumbai's Lasith Maliga took 28 wickets in 16 matches in the 2011 season and Dwayne Bravo of Chennai Superkigs took 32 wickets in the 2013 season.
Bumrah now has a final to be held on November 10 in which he will try to reach Bravo. Bumrah currently holds the purple cap for the highest number of wickets in the current IPL. In this case, Bumrah's closest counterparts are Delhi Capitals fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and Mumbai fast bowler Trent Boult. Rabada has 25 wickets and Bolt has 22 wickets.
