Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved is reportedly considering bidding for the Indian Premier League (IPL) title sponsorship slot.
"We are considering an IPL title sponsorship for this year as we want to give the Patanjali brand a global marketing platform," Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala told ET. (BCCI).
However, market experts believe that Patanjali is not a global brand. If he becomes the title sponsor of the IPL, he will surely benefit but the IPL will not get the benefit.
However, brands like Jio, Amazon, Tata group, Dream11, Adani group, and Education start-up Byjus will face stiff competition for IPL sponsorship which will reportedly bid for IPL title sponsorship.
BCCI is going to remove ITB soon. The tender process will be followed to select the sponsor. The winner of the auction under the Invitation Bid will be appointed as the sponsor of the 13th season of the IPL to be held in the UAE from 19 September to 10 November in the UAE.
In 2017, Vivo India acquired IPL title sponsorship rights for Rs 2199 crore. It is being speculated that the new sponsors may not be able to pay such a price and the BCCI is sure to lose.
