After the brilliant innings of young batsman Rishabh Pant (101) and Washington Sundar (96 not out), India defeated England by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth Test thanks to the brilliant bowling of Akshar Patel and Ravichandra Ashwin.
India finished England's second innings for only 135 runs after gaining a crucial lead of 160 runs in the fourth Test match played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With this, the Indian team has entered the final of the ICC Test Championship along with capturing the Test series. India captured the four-match Test series 3–1. India will now face New Zealand in the final of the ICC Test Championship from 18 June. In the second innings of England, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akshar Patel took five wickets for India.
