Former Cricket South Africa (CSA) executive Haroon Lorgat has been inducted into the nine-member CSA interim board headed by former judge of the country's top court, Jacques Yakub. The board also includes Omphile Ramela, the current president of the players 'association South Africa Cricketers' Association in the country, who will now step down as president of the association to avoid a conflict of interest.
Jacques Yakub was appointed by Nelson Mandela to the top court in 1998 where he stayed until 2013. This committee has been given three months time to improve the condition of CSA.
It is noteworthy that all the members of the CSA board recently resigned. On Sunday, six members, including CSA acting president Beresford Williams, resigned from their posts, while the remaining four members resigned on Monday.
The top decision-making council of South Africa Cricket on Thursday last week asked all members of the board to resign. All the board members have resigned following this order of the council.
