Due to this mistake, six players from Poland were sent back from Tokyo.

Tokyo Olympics 2020: Six swimmers from Poland lost their dream of participating in the Olympics and had to return to Warsaw from Tokyo. All these unfortunate players are relay swimmers and they had arrived in Tokyo as part of a 23-man strong contingent from Poland. Upon their arrival in Tokyo, the players were informed that the Polish Swimming Federation had made a mistake during the qualification submission process.

Due to an administrative error, Poland in violation of Olympic rules filled in more players than allowed, after which it was to be decided which players to be sent back. All Olympic swimmers in Poland, except veteran swimmer Kasia Wasic, have signed an open letter demanding the immediate resignation of the entire board of the Polish Swimming Federation. Kasia reportedly hasn't reached Tokyo yet.

Poland Swimming has become a laughing stock in the eyes of both the public and potential sponsors, the letter said. Now it remains to be seen whether these players get a chance or whether the officials of the Polish Swimming Federation fall on the ground. At the moment, it is clearly visible that the players have to bear the compensation for the mistake of the officials. In such a situation, action should be taken against the officials of the swimming association.
