Batting, captaincy, or wicket-keeping, there is no player who can fulfill these three roles as MS Dhoni does. In his 12th season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dhoni is still showing that even though his batting standards may have fallen, he still has offered as captain and wicketkeeper there is a lot to do.
In the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Dhoni added another record to his name. He became the first wicketkeeper in the T20 league to take 150 wickets.
Dhoni achieved this record on the bowling of Deepak Chahar when he caught the catch of Knight Riders opener Nitish Rana. Rana wanted to take a flick shot but was caught out after hitting the ball in the air.
This was the 111th catch of Dhoni's IPL career, while he has taken 39 wickets so far in stumping. Dhoni is followed by KKR wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who has 121 catches and 31 stumps.
Dhoni-led CSK won against KKR thanks to the thrilling innings of Andre Russell (54 off 22 balls) and Pat Cummins (66 off 34 balls). After an 18-run win over KKR, CSK has now captured the top position at the IPL 2021 point table.
