Birthday special: India became world champion for the first time under Kapil's captaincy!


Today is the birthday of the former great all-rounder of India, Kapil Dev. He was born on this day i.e. January 6, 1959, in Chandigarh. Kapil Dev, the captain of India's first world champion team, has made a special identity in world cricket on the basis of his playing.

Currently playing the role of a cricket expert, Kapil Dev has taken 434 wickets in his Test career 131 matches. His best performance has been nine wickets for 83 runs. He performed this in 1983 against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.

The Indian team was successful in winning the World Cup under Kapil's captaincy. In this tournament, Kapil Dev played a huge inning of 175 against Zimbabwe. He had played only 138 balls for this innings. Kapil Dev scored 303 runs in 8 matches of this World Cup along with 12 wickets. Kapil has taken 253 wickets in 225 ODIs.
