G Akash of Tamil Nadu has become the 66th chess grandmaster of the country while M Pranesh of his state and Ameya Audi of Goa have become international masters. Akash's Grandmaster title was confirmed at a recent meeting of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Council.


The Chennai player has a FIDE rating of 2495. He said that he is happy to be Grandmaster and aims to raise his rating to 2600. Akash said that I am happy to join the list of Grandmasters of India. This is a special moment for me. I will continue to work hard and my goal is to achieve 2600 rating as soon as possible.
