On October 29, 'World Stroke Day' is celebrated every year to make people aware of stroke. Do you know that every 40 seconds a person suffers a stroke? This causes oxygen and nutritional deficiencies in the brain tissue and then within a few minutes, the brain cells start dying. In both of these cases, parts of the brain are damaged or die. Stroke can lead to permanent brain damage, long-term disability, or even death. Stroke is the fifth largest cause of death in the US.


Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in India. Based on population-based studies, the estimated adjusted prevalence rate of stroke in urban areas is 84–262 / 100,000 and in rural areas is 334–424 / 100,000. World Stroke Day is observed on October 29.


Stroke can happen to any person. According to doctors, this is due to a lack of proper blood circulation between the brain cells. When these cells stop getting enough oxygen and nutrition, then humans are vulnerable. Experts say that this terrible disease can be avoided if humans somehow control their blood circulation. For this, they must include some things in their daily diet.
