What is salt
The salt which we use to enhance the taste of food, we know it by the name of salt. Chemically, it is sodium chloride. Salt contains about 60% chloride and about 40% sodium.
How much salt a person must consume in a day.
A person consumes 9-12 grams of salt in a day. Whereas the youth should consume 5 grams or less of salt in a day. This salt contains about 2.5 grams of sodium.

Stomach bloating (flatulence):
When your stomach is swollen or your stomach feels bloated, then understand that you are consuming more salt. There are some foods whose taste is not salty but sodium is high in them which can harm the body. Salt is present in sandwiches, pizzas, bagels, and canned soups, but its taste does not make us think of having salt in it.
Increased blood pressure:
There can be many reasons for increasing blood pressure, but a high intake of salt causes blood pressure to rise.
Swelling of extremities:
If your face and hands and feet look puffy due to swelling, then you understand that you are consuming more salt than necessary.
If you feel thirsty more:
If you consume more water and remain thirsty, then understand that you are eating too much salt. Excess intake of salt dehydrates your body. Due to the high amount of salt in your body, your body draws more water from your cells, and you may feel very thirsty.
If your weight starts increasing by more than 2 pounds or 4 pounds in a week or a few days, then understand that you are consuming more salt. Identify the symptoms of excess salt in yourself and reduce the intake of salty foods from your diet.
Not sleeping properly
If you consume too much salt before bedtime, then you do not feel relaxed at night. Sleeplessness, frequent sleepiness at night, no feeling of rest even after waking up in the morning are symptoms of increased salt content in the body.
