The Election Commission has announced the dates of assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Union Territory of Puducherry and the results of all these elections will come together on 2 May and our country is fully prepared for it.
Votes will be cast in 126 phases of Assam in three phases. The first phase will take place on 27 March, the second on 1 April, and the last phase on 6 April.
Sarbananda Sonowal is the 14th Chief Minister of Assam. Sonowal is a BJP member and represents the Majuli constituency in Assam's state legislative assembly. He graduated from Dibrugarh University and did LLB from Gauhati University. He is known as a firebrand and dynamic young politician who is also considered to be a caste hero of Assam, who belongs to the state's oldest student body AASU.
He became the Chief Minister of Assam on 19 May 2016 from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected from the Majuli constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly. He led the campaign of the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party leading the 16th Lok Sabha elections.
He was appointed as Union Minister of State-Independent Charge, Republic of India. He later resigned from the Lok Sabha in 2016.
