Apart from the ongoing investigation of 'Drug Connection in Bollywood', a survey by the Government of India has revealed a lot related to drug addiction, which is an increasing concern. Increasing drug addiction has become a serious problem in the country. This survey of the Government of India has revealed that about 1.48 crore children and teenagers in the age group of 10 to 17 years are consuming various types of narcotics including alcohol, opium, cocaine, cannabis. In fact, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment had conducted a national survey to collect state-wise details regarding the extent and nature of drug use in the country, the results of which are surprising as well as raise concern.
The survey is based on data for the year 2018. In this report, the findings are given in terms of population ratio of India in the age group of 10 to 75 years who use various narcotics and the maladies resulting from the use of narcotics.
According to data from the National Survey on Drug Limit and Format in India, the estimated number of cannabis users in the age group of 18 to 75 years is 2.90 crore while the number of opium users is found to be 1.90 crores. According to the survey, 10 lakh people in the age group of 18 to 75 years consume cocaine, and 20 lakh people use 'amphetamine' stimulant.
In a written reply to Rajiv Pratap Rudy's question in the Lok Sabha on September 20, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Ratan Lal Kataria gave this statement. According to this survey, alcohol consumption is the highest number among all age groups. 15.10 crore people in the age group of 18 to 75 years are consuming alcohol.
An estimated 5 million children and adolescents consume sedatives and drugs inhaled or inhaled, while two million children consume cocaine and four million stimulants.

Dr. Sameer Parikh, director of mental health and behavioral sciences at Fortis Hospital, told news agency PTI that the trend and trend of drug abuse among children are steadily increasing. These negatively impact the physical, mental and emotional development of adolescents. Teenagers are becoming aggressive due to drug addiction.
Dr. Parikh said that it has often been seen that if some person in the family has some kind of intoxication then such situations also motivate the teen to get intoxicated. He said that apart from this, it has been observed that many such traumatic events occur which cause mental stress. Even in such a situation, people start taking drugs.
He said that people are very busy with their tasks in a run-of-the-mill life. Due to this, they are not able to give much time to the children. In such a situation, children often feel neglected. Due to this, they can fall into the trap of falling into bad company. Therefore children and their needs should always be taken care of.
