Bengal election: Matua community will decide the result! Know how much dominance is there of this party, why TMC-BJP is tempting?

The election bugle has been sounded in West Bengal. Political parties are making every effort to bring voters to their pan. Amidst all the local issues, political parties are also eyeing such large communities, which have been playing a big role in changing the electoral equation. There is one such community in West Bengal, the Matua community, which all the parties are fighting to turn towards.

It is said about the Matua community that the political mathematics of Bengal rests on Matua votes to a great extent. It is believed that the Matua vote, which also slips, gets its upper hand. About seventy assembly seats in North Bengal are dominated by the Matua community. This is the reason that both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP challenging it are engaged in helping this community. Citizenship is a big issue for this community at the moment. In the Lok Sabha elections, it also got the support of the community due to the promises of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) of the BJP. Mamta Banerjee has also been close to this community and she is ensuring the right to land.

Got the right to vote, did not get citizenship

Since the partition of the country, a large section of the Matua (Matrushudra) community has been struggling with the problem of citizenship. They got the right to vote, but the issue of citizenship is yet to be done. After the partition of the country, many people of this community came to India. Later, people continued to come from East Pakistan. The influence of this community is highest in North Bengal. Around three crore people are associated with or come under the influence of this community, so it has been a vote bank for various political parties.

These political parties have got support

In the past, the Left parties continued to get support and later remained close to Mamata Banerjee. The BJP started cultivating this community before the 2019 Lok Sabha. Prior to the last Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his election campaign with the blessings of Veenapani Devi (Boro Maa), the head of the Thakur family, the head of this community. This family has a great influence on the Matua community. Later, BJP gave the Lok Sabha ticket to Shantanu Thakur of the same family and he won. Prior to this, the family was a Lok Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress and the MLAs were also from the same family during the CPI-M's tenure in the state. In 1977, this community supported the CPI (M), which ruled for a long time.
