At present, everyone is trying to strengthen their immunity to stay safe from serious infections like corona and black fungus. Some are taking vitamin pills, while some are engaged in efforts to strengthen the immune system by consuming the decoction several times a day. But is that enough? Do Diet and nutrition experts say that while focusing on what we should eat to keep ourselves healthy, we often forget that what should we avoid? We knowingly or unknowingly eat many such things every day which gradually weakens our immunity. In this article, we are going to tell you about five such common foods that we should strictly avoid. We all consume these things in daily life but remain unaware of the harm caused by them.
excessive salt intake
According to dieticians, salt plays an essential role in enhancing the taste of food, but its excessive use can also be harmful to the body in many ways. Salt can suppress the anti-inflammatory response and damage gut bacteria, along with disrupting the normal functioning of the immune system. Therefore it is very important to limit the amount of salt in the daily diet. Packaged chips, bakery items, and frozen dinners can have high salt content. The risk of inflammation and autoimmune diseases increases due to excess salt content in the body.
Fried foods are high in advanced glycation and products (AGEs). High levels of AGEs increase the risk of problems with inflammation and cellular damage. Along with lowering the body's antioxidant system, it can lead to cellular dysfunction and a weakening of the body's immunity by negatively affecting gut bacteria. Minimize the intake of fried food to reduce the level of AGEs in the body.
excessive sugar intake
According to experts, excessive consumption of sugar can be harmful to the body in many ways. Foods with added sugars raise blood sugar levels, which increases the production of inflammatory proteins in the body such as tumor necrosis alpha, C-reactive protein, and interleukin-6. All of these can negatively affect the immune system. Apart from this, the function of bacteria present in the gut can also be affected due to increased blood sugar levels, which can have a negative effect on immunity.
drinking too much coffee
Coffee and tea contain a variety of antioxidants that may benefit the body, although consuming too much caffeine can lead to sleep problems. As a result, the response to inflammation can increase and its effect on the body's immunity can be seen. To get a good night's sleep, tea/coffee should not be consumed at all six hours before bedtime.
alcohol and smoking
Studies show that excessive alcohol consumption (more than one drink per day for women, more than two drinks per day for men) can affect the body's immune response. This increases the risk of pneumonia and other respiratory problems. In the same way, smoking causes a lot of damage to the lungs, it also weakens immunity.
