Indian-origin Rohit Chopra has been sent to the Senate by the US government as Director of the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB). According to a statement released by the White House on Saturday, Chopra, who hails from Columbia, will continue in the post for the next five years.
Prior to this, he worked as Assistant Director in CFPB. Apart from this, he has also served as a special advisor in the US Department of Education.
US President Joe Biden has appointed two more Indians to important positions. Sonali Nijhavan has been made director of Americorps. Similarly, Preston Kulkarni has been made the Chief of External Affairs.
