A new study claims that eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can reduce stress. This result of the study has come at a time when stress problem is increasing in people due to Corona epidemic.
The study, conducted by researchers at Edith Cowan University, ECU, in Australia, has been published in the journal Clinical Nutrition. The study was conducted on more than 8,600 Australians aged 25 to 91 years. It examined the association between the consumption of fruits and vegetables and stress levels.
ECU researcher Simon Radavelli-Bagatini said, 'This study confirms the link between a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and good mental health. We found lower levels of stress in individuals who consume such diets in higher amounts than in those who consume low amounts of fruits and vegetables. This shows that such a diet plays an important role in good mental health. He said that fruits and vegetables are rich in nutritious elements like vitamins and minerals. They can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. According to the researchers, mental problems are increasing rapidly in the world.
Research findings show that people who consume at least 470 grams of fruits and vegetables every day reduce their stress by 10 percent. The World Health Organization (WHO) suggested that at least 400 grams of fruits and vegetables should be consumed every day.
