Pakistan: Political activist Baba Jaan jailed in Gilgit-Baltistan, now released after nine years

Pakistan has released Baba Jan, a political activist jailed in Gilgit-Baltistan after nine years imprisonment. A case was filed against him for raising the issue of illegal allocation of marble mines to Chinese companies in the Nasirabad Valley of Hunza.

Please tell that there have been many demonstrations in Pakistan regarding the release of Baba Jaan. Baba Jan is the leader of the Labor Party Pakistan (LPP). In February last year, the demand for Baba Jaan's release was intensified. At that time, his health was being described as poor and supporters wanted him to be released soon.

Who is Baba dear?

Baba Jan is the leader of the Labor Party Pakistan (LPP). It was in 2010, because of climate change that a landslide occurred near the Hunza River of Gilgit-Baltistan. The incident led to the creation of the Etabad Lake, but thousands of villagers lost their homes. The landslide was so terrible that the highway connecting Gilgit-Baltistan with the rest of Pakistan was also damaged, due to which the villagers were also having difficulty in getting help.

At this time Baba Jaan came forward to help the people and started talks with the government. After a lot of demonstrations and efforts, the Government of Pakistan finally had to bow down and promised to help the people. In 2011, a total of 457 families were given a list by Baba Jaan, but due to some reasons, the help of 25 families was stopped by the government with which the protest started.

But then the government started using violence to stop the protesters and some people along with Baba Jaan were also killed. After this Baba Jaan was arrested. There was also opposition to the arrest of Baba Jaan under Pakistan's Anti-Terrorism Act.
