Elon Musk, who set a new record by transporting astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) by private rocket, is now preparing to send military equipment from rockets. For this, the US Army has tied up with SpaceX Company. Now a rocket will be made that will fly at a speed of 12,000 kmph.
A reusable rocket will be built that will carry 80,000 kg of military equipment to any corner of the world in an hour. According to the US Ministry of Defense, America has 800 military bases in 70 countries of the world. The US regularly dispatches military supplies to these locations.
Explain that it takes 15 hours to deliver weapons to Afghanistan from the Cap Cannerval base in Florida. The distance between these two places is 12,314 km and the Boeing C-17 Globemaster takes 15 hours to cover this distance. The aircraft flies at a speed of 750 kmph. The US has a fleet of 233 such aircraft.
However, it is necessary to estimate the cost of the first phase in this agreement. According to SpaceX, the cost of an aircraft ranges from 15 crores to 675 crores. It is believed that the starship rocket used for launching can cost up to Rs 15 crore.
Let us know that SpaceX currently uses Falcon 9 rocket, can use its primary booster again. The advantage of sending military equipment from rockets would be that the aircraft would not have to get permission from foreign governments to pass through the airspace.
However, SpaceX is yet to make a landing with cargo. Military rockets will have a payload four times that of a Falcon. Apart from this, ballistic missile in space will also remain an attacking threat.
