Earthquake in Antarctica Base near Chile, 7.0 on Richter Scale


Tremors have been felt near Chile's Antarctic Base. Its intensity is measured at 7.0 on the Richter scale. This place is also known as South Seland Islands. At present, there has been no news of the loss of life or property.

Antarctica base has been evacuated after earthquake tremors. This place is close to Santiago, the capital of Chile. Chile's Interior Minister said that at 8.36 pm there was a magnitude 7.0 earthquake 216 away from O Higgins Scientific Base in Chile. The area was evacuated in view of the tsunami threat.

After this, a message in this regard was also sent to all citizens in Chile. They were asked to stay away from the coastal areas.

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake preceded the Chile-Argentina border, 30 km from eastern Santiago.
