The ship 'Jag Anand' has 23 crew members, which has been stuck at Jingtang port since June. The crew members have been waiting for immediate relief since the ship arrived here. On the question of allowing crew changes on humanitarian grounds, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, "We are currently unable to do so due to epidemic regulations."
Rules regarding epidemic prevention and control at ports in China are clear. It is based on science. Local authorities are in constant touch with Indian authorities. They provide information to the Indian side from time to time and the crew is being given all necessary support.
