Antivirus software McAfee founder John David McAfee commits suicide, Spain's court allowed extradition to America


Antivirus software pioneer John McAfee, serving a prison sentence in Spain, was found dead on Wednesday. This information was given by a jail official. Shortly before this incident, the court had approved his extradition to the US where he is wanted in the tax evasion case. "McAfee, 75, committed suicide in prison," a female spokesman for the prison system in Catalonia said.

The extradition of John David McAfee, wanted in a tax evasion case for 2016 to 2018, was approved by US judicial authorities as per a court order. Let us tell you that between 2014 and 2018, McAfee, who was arrested in 2020 from Barcelona Airport on charges of willfully not filing tax returns, was about to leave for Istanbul at Barcelona Airport with a British passport. McAfee was produced in the High Court via video conferencing and sent to jail without bail. Here he was kept in captivity till further process for extradition.

McAfee had earned millions through cryptocurrency and consulting work and also sold his biography rights but he did not pay income tax. Had he been convicted, he could have been sentenced to 30 years. Even before this, McAfee was arrested for carrying arms and ammunition in the Dominican Republic country.
