18 million Indian diasporas are living in other countries: the United Nations

According to a United Nations report, India's 1.8 million migrants live in other countries, the highest in the world. It states that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United States, and Saudi Arabia have the largest number of diaspora.


The report 'International Migration 2020 Highlights' released by the population section of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), states that there is the largest number of expatriate Indians in the world and they are living in many countries.


In the year 2020, 18 million people in India were living in other countries. After India, the people of Mexico and Russia (both 11 million), China (10 million), and Syria (8 million) are in other countries.


The largest population of Indians living in other countries lives in the United Arab Emirates (3.5 million), the United States (27 million), Saudi Arabia (2.5 million). The report said that Australia, Canada, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, and Britain also have a significant population of diaspora.
