Two Hindu Girls Kidnapped on Holi, Forcefully Converted to Islam in Pakistan; Sushma Asks Report


External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj asked Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to send a report after kidnapping of 2 Hindu girls and forcefully converted to Islam before being married.

In the eve of Holi two girls, 13-year-old Raveena and 15-year-old Reena were allegedly abducted by a group of "influential" men from their house in Ghotki district. Immediately after the abduction, a video gone viral in which a cleric was allegedly shown solemnising the Nikah (marriage) of Raveena and Reena.

In a tweet, Sushma Swaraj, while tagging a media report about the incident, said that she asked the Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to send a report on the matter.

Pakistan's Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, while tagging Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, said that "Mam its Pakistin internal issue and rest assure its not Modi’s India where minorities are subjugated its Imran Khan’s Naya Pak where white color of our flag is equally dearer to us.I hope you ll act with same diligence when it comes to rights of Indian Minorities."

On the response of Chaudhry's comment Sushma said "I only asked for a report from Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad about the kidnapping and forced conversion of two minor Hindu girls to Islam. This was enough to make you jittery."

In a media report from Pakistan, it has been said that after this incident the Hindu community protested and demanded strict action against those who committed the crime.
