Rajasthan civic elections: 22 candidates elected unopposed, now 7249 candidates are in the fray!


7249 candidates will try their luck in elections to be held for member posts in 50 municipal bodies in 12 districts of Rajasthan. While 22 candidates have been elected unopposed. On the last day of withdrawal of names from these elections, 1654 candidates withdrew their names. Now all these bodies will vote on December 11 from 8 am to 5 pm. After this, counting of votes will be done from 9 am on December 13.

Election Commissioner PS Mehra said that 13,185 nomination papers were filed by 10095 candidates till the last deadline for filing nomination papers. After scrutiny and withdrawal of nomination papers, now 7249 candidates are left in the election fray.

He said that according to the electoral roll prepared for 43 municipalities and 7 city councils, a total of 14 lakh 32 thousand 233 voters will be able to exercise their franchise. Out of which 7 lakh 46 thousand 663 men, 6 lakh 85 thousand 542 women, and 28 other voters will be able to exercise their franchise. He informed that polling will be held at 2622 polling stations for 1775 wards.
