The dispute between the BJP-Shiv Sena over naming the Navi Mumbai airport on paper has now hit the streets. On Thursday, BJP workers along with local people protested and demanded that the airport should not be named after Balasaheb Thackeray.
Protests have started once again regarding the naming of the airport in Navi Mumbai. The dispute between the BJP-Shiv Sena regarding the name of the airport is already going on, but this dispute has now hit the streets. The local people and the BJP want the airport to be named after the late activist DB Patil. On the other hand, Shiv Sena wants to name the airport after party founder Bal Saheb Thackeray, but workers of both the parties are getting face to face with this.
On Thursday, thousands of people took to the streets to protest. All of them wanted to gherao the CIDCO building, but the police had already stopped them, due to which all of them started demanding to name the airport as Dinkar Sand Airport in front of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation office in Belapur.
The protest, which started around 11 am, continued till 4 pm. Workers holding banners and posters in their hands were demanding to name the airport 'DB Patil' on the streets. Some activists were raising slogans against Balasaheb Thackeray for not naming the airport.
