President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday approved the establishment of the President's Chair of Excellence on National Security at the National Defense College (NDC). According to the Union Defense Ministry, on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the National Defense College, President Ram Nath Kovind approved the establishment of 'President's Chair of Excellence on National Security' in the presence of Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar and Commandant Air Marshal D. Chaudhary at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The ministry further said this chair will not only help in increasing the intellectual capital of the college but will also prove to be very helpful in increasing its credibility and reputation. The chair will be set up at the National Defense College in New Delhi and all educational, administrative, and logistic support will be provided for it.
According to the ministry, NDC is the only institute of strategic education in the national security system. The college offers a 47-week long specially designed course on the subject of National Security and Strategic Studies. It can consist of 100 members, including 25 from friendly countries.
