Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Sansad TV along with Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The three senior leaders of the country will unveil the new channel today i.e. on 15th September at 6 pm from the Parliament House Annexe. The new channel will be launched on International Day of Democracy.
Parliament TV will merge two MP channels Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV. The new channel will broadcast programs divided into four main categories. Programs related to religion, economy, infrastructure, health, government policies will be broadcast on this channel.
Parliament TV will include Lok Sabha TV which is running from July 2006. The idea of creating a 24x7 parliamentary channel was reportedly mooted by former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, with the aim of making people aware of parliamentary proceedings.
Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor will interview well-known personalities on the channel. While Karan Singh will host the inter-religious harmony show. Amitabh Kant will host the show based on infrastructure. Chief Economic Adviser Sanjeev Sanyal will show on the economy.
Senior advocate Hemant Batra may also host the event on Public Police. As per reports, around 15 flagship programs are ready for broadcast, which will be hosted by eminent faces.
