Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 18th convocation of Tezpur Central University on 22 January. According to a statement, the Prime Minister will address the function through a video conference from Delhi and will confer degrees and diplomas to the passing students in the year 2020.
"The convocation will be held in a mixed manner in which only research students and meritorious students will be present to take their degrees and gold medals, following the guidelines of Kovid-19," the statement said.
The remaining students will be awarded degrees and diplomas by digital from the university. A total of 1218 students will be awarded degrees and diplomas at the convocation. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das will also be present on the occasion.
The university said that the Governor of Assam and the Chancellor of Tezpur University, Jagdish Mukhi, will preside over the convocation and provide degrees and diplomas digitally to the students.
