To prevent covid-19, as part of the efforts being made across the state, Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation has set up vending machines with the help of an NGO which will provide masks to the people at low cost in public places. Such vending machines are mainly installed in markets, bus terminals, and KIMS Hospital here. Given the threat of epidemic, the state government has made it mandatory for people to wear masks.

Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation commissioner Suresh Sosal said, “Masks have been made mandatory for everyone these days. There is a provision to be punished under the Epidemic Act without seeing the mask. Not everyone can afford the mask here. Keeping this in view, the corporation decided to install vending machines. He told that people will put a coin of Rs 2 in it and they will get a surgical mask. 100 masks will be inserted into the machine at a time and it will also have a display showing the number of masks.
