Maharashtra: BJP MLA reprimands policeman for unsuccessful raids, audio goes viral


Two audio clips went viral on social media on Sunday over a failed raid by a gutkha businessman in Jalna, Maharashtra. In the clip, BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar is allegedly reprimanding a probationary (probationary) IPS officer and a local policeman for unsuccessful raids.

On November 25, probationary IPS officer Gahoor Hasan and RP Thakre, in-charge of Paratur police station, raided a trader's hideouts in Paratur, officials said. The raids were carried out on the basis of information that he had deposited the gutka stock. Gutkha is banned in Maharashtra.

However, this information turned out to be false and no gutka was found, after which Lanka, the MLA from Paratur, called Hassan, reprimanded him for the failed raids, and said that he would raise the issue in the state assembly and torture an innocent citizen. Will ensure action against the officer.

Lokar also asked the officer to take action against the person who gave the wrong information to the police. In the viral audio clip, the officer was heard saying that the police has apologized to the said businessman for this mistake.

Asked about the audio clip, Gahoor told the media that the raid was conducted on the basis of information provided by an informer. Gahoor said that police had apologized to the businessman after the information was found to be incorrect.
