Lockdown will start in Bangalore tonight, know what will open and what will remain closed

The number of coronavirus patients is steadily increasing in Karnataka. The state government has announced a week-long lockdown in Bangalore to reduce the infection of Corona. The lockdown will start from 8 PM in urban and rural Bangalore.


At the same time, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has demanded the Karnataka government to impose lockdown in the entire state. He said that the Karnataka government should announce a lockdown in the entire state as the cases of coronavirus are increasing continuously. The former PM also appealed to the people to cooperate with the government and follow the security protocol.


During the lockdown in Bangalore, grocery stores, meat shops, and other essentials shops will only open between 5 am and 12 noon. However, all other commercial private establishments will remain closed for a week.


On Monday, 2,738 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Karnataka. After which the total number of patients in the state increased to 41,581. As of Monday, 757 people have died in the state from Corona, while 16,248 have been cured. Meanwhile, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa made it clear that the lockdown would not be pursued even after the government of Karnataka, Chamber of Commerce, and industry criticized the decision of the government.

What will be open

During the lockdown, shops selling essential goods including milk, grocery, and vegetables in the city and its surrounding areas will be allowed to open from 5 am to 12 noon.

Home delivery of essentials will be allowed.

The Secretariat offices in Vidhan Soudha and Vikas Soudha will work with 50 percent of people.

Construction can continue at sites on which workers are already present.

Hospitals and medical shops will remain open.

Offices of civil facilities such as electricity, water, and LPG supplies will remain open.

Will it be closed

Buses and taxis hired for emergencies such as public transport will remain closed during the lockdown.

Hotels and restaurants will only be open for food and home delivery. Sitting in the restaurant will not be allowed.

Most government offices will remain closed except those providing essential services.

Sports complex, gymnasium, and swimming pool will remain closed.

Cinema halls and malls will remain closed.

Religious places will remain closed.

Government guidelines are only for those areas which are outside the Containment Zone.
