Information Commissioner Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha will take the oath of the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) on Saturday. President Ramnath Kovind will administer him the oath. After this, CIC Sinha, journalist Uday Mahukar, former Labor Secretary Hiralal Samaria, and former CAG Saroj Punhani will be sworn in as information commissioners. The three Information Commissioners were selected by a three-member committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sinha joined as Information Commissioner on 1 January 2019. He has also served on the Indian High Commission in Britain and Sri Lanka. In fact, the post of CIC was vacant since the end of Bimal Julka's term on 26 August. Sinha will have a tenure of three years.
