Indigenous Intermediate Jet Trainer's Spin Flight Testing Begins

39

The spin flight testing of the indigenous intermediate jet trainer (IJT) has started. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has built IJT and will replace the Air Force Kiran Aircraft Fleet. HAL's test pilot GP Captain HV Thakur (retired) and Wing Commander P Avasti (retired) flew the aircraft.

HAL said that spin testing is the most important phase of any aircraft. Testing will now be progressed slowly to meet other requirements and to assess behavior on both sides of the aircraft. The IJT has already undergone complete testing in terms of speed, altitude, and weight and has been integrated with drop tanks as well as bombs. For spin testing, HAL redesigned the aircraft by increasing the hull surface.
