India Today have to deposit Five lakh in the court registry as a penalty: High Court

The Bombay High Court has directed TV Today Network, which runs the India Today channel, to deposit the amount of five lakh fine in the registry of the High Court. In fact, the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) imposed this penalty on India Today in the alleged TRP scam case.

A division bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and Milind Jadhav delivered the order while hearing a petition by TV Today Network challenging the July 31, 2020 order of the disciplinary regulatory body.

The petitioner's counsel Virender Tuljapurkar, while seeking interim relief, asked the court to order Bark not to take any action by force. At the same time, Barish's lawyer Ashish Kamat opposed the interim relief. The next hearing on this matter will be held on November 5
