High alert: Corona infection risk in wildlife too, Ministry of Environment issued advisory


The risk of corona infection among wild animals has increased. The death of a lion from the infection has been confirmed by the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment. However, the letter did not say where the death took place. The Ministry has issued advisories to all the states. Given the danger of infection in wildlife, the forest staff has been put on high alert in Panna Tiger Reserve.

Area director Panna Tiger Reserve Uttam Kumar Sharma said that with the imposition of Corona curfew, there has been a complete ban on tourist visits to Panna Tiger Reserve from April 16. The system of continuous monitoring of tigers has been in place since the beginning. He informed that the Union Forest and Environment Ministry has issued an advisory to all the states. He appealed to the people to avoid exposure to wild animals. Also, do not feed any kind of food to monkeys and other wild animals. He told that the field staff has been given a mask and sanitizer. Directives have been given to take all necessary measures to prevent infection from the forest staff in the villages of the buffer area.
