PM Modi wrote in grief, 'Proud of migrant Anirudh Jugnauth, he helped build bilateral relations, which will benefit his legacy. The demise of Anirudh Jagannath is a great loss as a Hindi lover. Known for his special love for India and Hindi, Aniruddha Jagannath was awarded the first Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. The ancestors of Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth's father Anirudh Jugnauth had reached Mauritius from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.

Anirudh Jagannath's ancestors were residents of Athilpura village of Kersada police station area of ​​Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. His father foreign Yadav and uncle Jhulai Yadav were sent by the British government in 1873 to Mauritius for sugarcane cultivation as an indentured laborer. Today the family is known as the most prestigious political family of Mauritius.

Jagannath was awarded the first Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. Jagannath was the leader of the Movement Socialist Militant Party in Mauritius. He was first elected to Parliament in 1963 as an IFB candidate. After this, he became a member of the All Mauritius Hindu Congress in 1965. In 1965-66, he was made Minister of State for Development in the government of Sivasagar Ramgoolam, and in November 1966 he became Minister of Labor.

Jagannath joined the Movement Militant Morrison in 1970 and then became the leader of the same party. He won the elections held in 1976 and was also elected the Leader of the Opposition. In the year 1982, Jagannath got a big victory and was elected Prime Minister.
