CORONAVIRUS: The N440K variant is no more dangerous than the previous strain! Appeal to the media to publish the news responsibly in Andhra Pradesh


Recently many reports had claimed that a new strain of coronavirus has been found in Andhra Pradesh, which is more dangerous than the first variant present in the state. Now Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy, Chief of Andhra Pradesh Kovid Command Center has dismissed these claims. He has clearly stated that no research has shown that the N440K variant is more dangerous than the previous strain. Appealing to all the media, he said that he should publish these types of news with great responsibility. For information, let us tell you that scientists had claimed that the N440K variant is 15 times more dangerous than the strain present in India.

Jawahar Reddy said that this variant spread rapidly in December 2020 and January-February 2021. Thereafter, its prevalence decreased until March. Currently, B.1.617 and B.1 strains have been identified from states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana.
